The Yaupon Hollies Are Gone!

When I did my original front landscaping 11 years ago, I planted five dwarf yaupon hollies in a grouping.  They were great for many years, but they grew big (as plants often do) and blocked the view from my study window.  They also crowded out the plumbago, esperanza and indian hawthorne.  I thought I could thin them to just 2 or 3 plants, but none of them were centered in the space.  I finally decided that they all had to go.

I got home a bit early this evening.  The cool front had passed through and it was pleasant outside.  I completed the spring maintenance on my lawn mower but really didn't feel like mowing the yard.  Maybe I could tackle the yaupon project.  Armed with pruners, lopers. electric hedge trimmer, and rip saw, I attacked the five hollies.  In less than an hour, they were finally gone.

I spent another chunk of time dragging the remains to the street for trash collection.  Now I can dream about my newfound empty palette.  What to plant????
