My name is Susan and I'm a piddler. I really do have a plan when I go out into my garden, but then I see a weed that needs pulling and a plant crying out for some water, and soon I can't remember what was on the original task list.
I'm quite happy piddling away in my garden. As a fellow blogger wrote, "It's important to know that piddling is not wasting time - or doing nothing. Far from it! But, to piddle correctly, a person cannot be rushed for time, or have a deadline to meet...because piddling is not stressful." In fact, "the fine art of piddling is great for alleviating depression or sadness. If you do it right it puts you in a very good mood!" So, piddling in my garden is how I seek serenity in my often crazy world. It puts me in a wonderful mood as I care for flowers, plants and vegetables while listening to the birds sing and watching the squirrels and bunnies play.
I hope to use this blog to record the happenings in my garden - what the plants are doing, the projects underway, and my observations of the beautiful world surrounding me. I'm a Texas gardener, so this may include weather reports and updates on drought and watering restrictions. Piddling lends itself to noticing when the bird feeders are empty and other important things.
I'm also an inveterate keeper of lists. I'll probably record my gardening "To Do Lists" and simple lists of what I observe as I walk around my outdoor space. I'll try to make this something others might want to read, but I'm mostly doing this for myself. Read away, but be warned!
I'm off to piddle around!
